6 Steps to Certification

Step 1: Choose your exam classification
Step 2: Commit to a study program
Step 3: Order your program
Step 4: Send your application to the DAS
Step 5: Complete our program, then pass practice exams
Step 6: Schedule a test date to take your exam

STEP 1: Select the type of exam that you are required pass.

We suggest that you take the general exam if you have the required 8000 hours. It is the "master license" and lets you perform residential, commercial and industrial electrical work. It gives you more flexibility and dollar value in your electrical career.

The residential exam is for electricians with two years (4800 hours) electrical experience. Holders of a residential certification card can only work on residential projects.

STEP 2: Commit to a study program.

To pass the certification exam you must have detailed knowledge of the NEC and how to reference the codebook both rapidly and accuracy. Mastering the codebook takes time and practice.

Step 3: Order your program.

Your best chance of passing your electrical certification exam the first time you take it is right here in front of you!

To date, over 1600 students have utilized our programs, only three have not passed their exams on the first try!

By comparison, over 46% of all electricians taking the state certification exams between July 6th and September 7th 2006 failed to pass!. They now must pay more money and wait a minimum of 60 days to retake their exams, a costly delay.

Step 4: Submit your application to the DAS.
(One will be provided for you in your study materials.)

It is not too late to submit your application, however do so as soon as possible.

The state typically takes at least three to four weeks to approve your application and mail out an acceptance letter. You will not be able to schedule your exam date with a test center until you recieve your state authorization.

Step 5: Complete our program then pass your final exams.

Your study program contains twelve 3-4 hour lessons which teach you our code reference system and give a strong base of knowledge of the NEC.

Our program ends with 3 full length practice exams to guage your readiness to take the State certification test.

Step 6: Take the State exam.

After you pass our third practice exam contact the your local test center and schedule your test date.
